Bio

Award winning singer/songwriter Kevin Lawson has traveled the the globe performing his songs of heart and soul with his guitar and a passion to connect. The youngest son of a minister, Lawson grew up learning the hymns of the church as well as listening to his older siblings records like Carole King, Harry Nilsson and The Beatles. Along the way Lawson was imprinted with the notion that if you stand up to sing, you should be saying something important..whether that’s a song about loss or bliss…it should have some substance to it and you should sing it with all your heart.

Kevin Lawson is a man equally influenced by Paul of Tarsus and Paul of Liverpool, John the Baptist and Johnny Cash, The Clash and The Cross.

Lawson has lived and thrived musically wherever he found himself, from his beginnings in Atlanta Ga, through his days in Nashville Tn, and now in his current home in Florida.

Lawson was  recently invited to perform for the Nashville based  organization  Send Musicians To Prison, that send artists into prisons (via video as well as in person) to perform. Lawson’s set was filmed & recorded  with the mission of sharing hope, healing and restoration with the imprisoned... through music. The release of the 5 song EP will be his 10th release.

“Send Musicians To Prison” is an entirely stripped-down affair, with the focus squarely on Lawson’s achingly honest lyrics, scratchy baritone and rhythmic strumming. The record is a testament to one voice, one guitar and the endless message of faith, hope & love.
“I try not to sing at people but with people and I know that if I can get an audience involved then the time we spend together is less a performance and more of an experience.”
